DDU-GKY, a
pivotal component of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), is
meticulously designed to fulfill dual objectives: augmenting the income streams of
impoverished rural families and nurturing the career aspirations of rural youth.
This visionary scheme specifically targets rural youth aged between 15 and 35
years hailing from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
In alignment
with the Skill India campaign, DDU-GKY plays a pivotal role in
bolstering the socio-economic fabric of the nation by dovetailing with
governmental initiatives such as Make In India, Digital India, Smart Cities, and
Start-Up India, Stand-Up India campaigns. The program strategically caters to over
180 million rural youth, constituting approximately 69% of the nation's youth
population aged between 18 and 34 years.
Within this
demographic, a staggering 55 million youths, situated at the bottom of
the socio-economic pyramid, grapple with minimal or no employment opportunities.
DDU-GKY, with its emphasis on skill development and livelihood creation, emerges
as a beacon of hope for these marginalized youths, offering them a pathway to
